Gay Therapist and Counselor Specializing in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Clients in NJ
I am a gay man (pronouns: he, him) who has been working with the LGBTQ+ community on a professional basis for over ten years. This background provides me with unique expertise on issues that tend to be a part of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer experience. I began my mental health work with the LGBTQ+ community at the New York City Gay and Lesbian Anti-Violence Project, and enhanced my experience with clinical positions at the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center and Gay Men's Health Crisis (GMHC).
In addition to my clinical experience with the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender community, I have published a book (Helping Gay Men Find Love: Tips for Guys on Dating and Beginning a Healthy Relationship) and have professional training in mental health and medical issues for transgender individuals as well as training in mental health issues involved with HIV/AIDS.
I also am a graduate of the Institute for Sexuality Education and Enlightenment and provide sex therapy, with a specialty in LGBTQ+ and Consensually Non-Monogamous relationships.
- Columbia University, Master of Science in Social Work
- University of Pennsylvania, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
- Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
- Couples Therapy (Developmental Model)
- Sex Therapy (Institute for Sexuality Eduction and Enlightenment)
- Group Psychotherapy
To better serve the LGBTQ+ community, I brought on to my team a therapist that shares my enthusiasm and passion for working with LGBTQ+ clients: Patience Moore, LCSW.
I create and foster a safe, nonjudgmental environment so you are able to reveal and discover feelings, thoughts or situations that are tripping you up and causing pain. Sometimes listening and understanding dynamics with others or within yourself is helpful. Sometimes a supportive plan of action emerges. I can help you address challenges including LGBTQ+-related issues, family and relationships, parenting, special needs, addictions, unexpected illness, loss, demons or trauma from the past, fears of the future, writing, art, or other work blocks, and work and financial uncertainty.
I also have extensive experience working in the public school system, serving as an Anti-Bullying Specialist and counseling children throughout all grade levels.
In the end, we all wake up with ourselves and want to be happy and at peace. I'd like to help you find that.
